About Learned Lessons

My love for trivia goes way back. I’ve been a Jeopardy! champion, a long-time pub trivia host, and a quiz bowl state champ in high school. I even have written trivia questions every week for a weekly meeting for my day job.

But for over a decade now, one of my joys of playing trivia has been LearnedLeague, the internet’s greatest trivia competition. I’ve watched the site grow from a relatively small community of under 1000 players, to a full-fledged battle royale with over 20,000 LLamas (the site’s loving term for LearnedLeague participants). Four times a year, for 25 straight weekdays (Match Days), LLamas log in across the globe to compete in LearnedLeague, all under the leadership of LearnedLeague’s esteemed Commissioner, Thorsten A. Integrity.

With the league’s interest continuing to bloom, I’ve decided to chronicle each Match Day right here on this site.

Welcome to Learned Lessons.

Over the course of each LearnedLeague season (LL88), I’m going to be recapping each Match Day the morning after it happens. I’m going to discuss the previous day’s questions, how I approached answering them, and my thoughts after seeing the answers. I’ll have some general thoughts about the question sets each day as well. On off-days, I might dedicate other posts to different parts of LearnedLeague or more trivia-related content in general.

If you subscribe, the posts should arrive in your inbox each morning, after previous Match Day results have been posted and right as you’re having your morning coffee. And best of all, these posts will all be free - I don’t want to charge for posts about a league that already has a subscription fee.
