LL94 - Sailing to Byzantium
New LL season, new league, new kid, and lots of new guest posts to follow.
Hello! Hope everyone has had a nice summer. Tomorrow begins LL94, which means the first Learned Lessons post will arrive on Tuesday morning. I will be writing that one (as well as the final post of the season), but the rest of the season will be guest posts. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and I look forward to your contributions!
Why all the guest posts this season? Well, my wife and I welcomed a baby girl (and potential future LLama) to the world last Monday! Her name is Maya and both she and my wife are doing great, but being first-time parents sure is tiring, so I knew I’d need some guest reinforcements this season. Right now we have someone signed up for every Match Day and even a couple alternates, but I’ll put the word out if I need a last-minute substitute or if someone needs to swap out their date.
The other big news in my corner of the LL world is that my branch has been moved to a new league. After several years of being part of Midland, I’m now in the newly-organized Byzantium league. Personally, I’m excited about seeing some new opponents, and being in a rundle with exactly 26 LLamas again so that I get to play everyone once. I’ll also be defending my title in my Private Rundle, which only has 10 people in it.
Finally, I had the opportunity to proctor a few LL Championship sessions in July and August. This was my third year doing so, and it’s always impressive and inspiring to see the best of the best compete. We’ll get the results in early September to see who wins the coveted LL Scarf.
Good luck to everyone this season! I’ll be back Tuesday.
Congrats on the new edition! FYI, I'm on the League Naming Committee and I was the one who suggested Byzantium as a name the last go round!
Congrats, Ben, on the new family addition!
